Perfect timing... The city is flooded.
Once we got off our train after hours of travel and frustration we exited the train station to high winds and pouring rain. Cool right? When we stepped out we thought omg! The city is completely flooded, when we realized it was a canal we knew we were crazy and exhauated!Well it was 10 pm and we were worried we would be scared walking but there were heaps of people out! Side note: I just used the word heals... Our Aussies would be proud!
Anyway, we trecked trough the rain umbrellas in hand flying away like Mary Poppins and crossed two bridges, through one square to the left, had to walk on these bleacher like things to avoid the water and we finally arrived at our hostel. Everyone and I mean all 8 of them were in the kitchen having drinks and we unloaded our stuff paid for the night, put on some flip flops and off we went.
We were greeted by this 18 year old child from la, and made the comment, Arizona? Hears that's not hard to get into. Kare and I did all we could to keep our mouths closed. By the way, she attends Pasadena City College. We will go toe to toe with her anyday. She later yelled at me for being republican when it was karin asking her about why she like Barack Obama, her answer was 'I believe in everything he believes in and has done so much.' Kare and I let it be but also remembered there is no way she was old enough to vote. 2 points us.
So we stayed and hung out, I went back to the room and then watched ever video I had on my iPod since I couldn't sleep. Oh and the wireless doesn't work becuase some drunk Aussie cut the cord the other weekend. We have a feeling it may have been our Aussie boyfriends that we will see in Vienna or prague.
We woke up this morning, and headed to see the city. It is so amazing! We have heard mixed reviews, my aunt and cousin loved it but we hve heard it's not exactly a backpackers budget!
We walked around with Jack from Ohio that I thought was a hottie. We walked along the canals which have spilled into the streets and shops! Everyone has rainboots on! Perfect place for them!
We saw the cool churches and just kind of walked the city. We decided to take the scenic route home... Little did we know that meant that we got an amazing view of the snow capped alps. It was unbelievable! So goregeous!!! We took lots of pictures and enjoyed everything! So cool!
Tomorrow we are going to head to the Glass island via water taxi. Second best to 70€ gondola ride!! Then we jump on a 7 hour train to Vienna for a night or two.
We can't believe our trip is winding down! Tomorrow I will post our Eurotrip Halfway Point Awards! They're so hilarious! Get excited!
Cheers!
Melanie
